What may seem <strong><em>simple <\/em><\/strong>and actually <strong><em>quite boring<\/em><\/strong> to us foreigners, is extremely important for the taste palette to the people of Tokyo and Japan as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From famous dishes such as <strong>Sushi<\/strong>, <strong>Kamameshi<\/strong>, <strong>Omurice<\/strong>, <strong>Donburi <\/strong>and so much more; there is so much need and demand for rice in the country. The <strong><em>plainness <\/em><\/strong>of the rice actually compliments so many of the traditional dishes, due to the <strong>saltiness <\/strong>that is usually found within the<strong> other components<\/strong> of the meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:53px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t Overload Your Plate At A Buffet<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Over-filling your plate at a buffet or all-you-can-eat restaurant is <em>pretty <\/em><strong>normal <\/strong>in the UK or USA. In fact, it\u2019s the fun of going to a buffet, to put as much on your plate to see if you can eat it all!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, you might want to rethink doing this when in Japan. If you can\u2019t eat all of that food that you have just dumped on your plate, you are definitely going to come across as someone who definitely <strong><em>doesn\u2019t <\/em><\/strong>respect <strong>Mottainai <\/strong>and <em>possibly <\/em>is even rude. I\u2019m sure you don\u2019t want that, so for your and the staffs benefit, <strong>don\u2019t go crazy <\/strong>with the portions. You are a tourist at the end of the day, and the staff know this. Tokyo itself receives around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metro.tokyo.lg.jp\/english\/topics\/2019\/0828_01.html#:~:text=In%202018%2C%20there%20were%20around,a%202.5%25%20increase%20over%202017.\"><strong>14 million<\/strong><\/a> tourists each and every year. The Japanese people know by now that not all of their beliefs and rules will be successfully translated all of the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All you have to do if you are full is simply <strong>apologise and reassure<\/strong> them. By this, I simply mean apologise for not being able to finish your food and tell them how nice their food was and that you really enjoyed it. You can do this <em>very casually <\/em>when asking for the bill or telling the staff that you are all finished with your meal. It\u2019s as easy as that really!
